Tteokbokki, Do I Miss the Taste, or the Time? Today, I want to write about tteokbokki. When I was young, tteokbokki was our favorite snack. And I was the one who made it. Back then, aside from ramen, tteokbokki was almost the only dish I knew how to make. I was the oldest of four siblings, and my parents were always busy. Whenever my younger siblings wanted something to eat, I would make a huge wokful of tteokbokki. And the four of us would eat every last bit of it, scraping the bottom of the wok clean. Looking back, I sometimes wonder if we ate it all because my tteokbokki was actually delicious, or simply because my siblings had big appetites. Still, I’d like to believe it was delicious. Haha. Our Tteokbokki Always Had Eomuk(fish cakes) We always put eomuk(fish cakes) in our tteokbokki. Back then, we called it odeng(fish cakes).
